My work can be grouped into 3 categories: Strategic Design, Product Design, and work with Technology. As these largely overlap the majority of my project fall into multiple of these categories and all feature a technological aspect.

Overview:
Strategic Design consultancy work performed for SAIC Motors (Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation) and the IMDC (Intelligent Mobility Design Centre).

Brief Overview:
China is rapidly changing in many ways, with a growth of a new middle class, rapid urbanisation, an unbalanced social structure created by decades of the 1 child policy, as well as a growing awareness of resource scarcity.

Such factors will have direct implications on the vast challenges china will be facing and how people will live their everyday lives in the coming future. A big part of this is mobility, how people will be moving around, and more importantly, what they will be using to do so.

The goal of this project is to asses the implications of growing trends on the future of china, and establishing the narrative of how these will influence chinas future transport needs.
A Quick Introduction to SIAC:
SAIC Motor is one of the biggest automotive conglomerates in China. They own European brands such as Rover (rebranded Roewe), MG, and have a 40% stake in GM and have joint ventures with companies such as Volkswagen.

China's car sharing Today

What is Shared Transport of the Future?
Shared/short term rental cars now can cause quite the headache. The experience can leave a user frustrated.

In order to fit into the future daily lives of people a service has to be completely decluttered, eliminating unnecessary stress and wasting mental capacity.

Transport seamlessly adapts to user needs. You glide in and out of transport without seamlessly.
Integrated into other systems, it knows when you need to travel and how. It is always ready for you.
When not in use it blends into the environment and performs secondary functions, maximising its utility.

Concept Exploration and Design Provocation

Early stage design provocation. Such quick and dirty renders are intended to inspire and broaden the conversation with the client.
Involving stakeholders in the early stages of the design process allows for the identification of bigger picture institutional goals and how to prioritise them.
In the long run this process ensures that everyone is on board with the direction of the final deliverables.
