Milli is an analog robot mimicking a millipede. This project was an immersion into biomimetics, aiming at reproducing the sinusoidal gate of the animal. As a millipede travels it sends multiple ripples through all of its legs.

A similar mechanism can be achieved through the use of a lead-screw and an array of small levers which mimic the legs. As the lead-screw turns, it pushes consecutive legs, propelling the robot forward.

Milli utilises analog electronics such relay latching circuits to trigger responses to the environment, changing direction of travel when encountering obstacles.

Milli has a set of tracks, or legs, on each side of its triangular body, allowing it to continue travel no matter what side it rolls onto. Together with its obstacle sensing system, this enables Milli to travel freely in any environment without getting stuck.
